Hi Sienna! What are you studying?
Bachelor of Law (Honours)
-
Why did you choose to study in Brisbane?
I chose to study in Brisbane because it was the closest to my home town so I was still able to go home within a reasonable time. I also chose to go to Queensland University of Technology (QUT) as it had been recommended to me by lawyers that I look up to.
-
Why did you choose to live at Iglu?
I chose to live at Iglu for the exceptional location. Being in the heart of the city makes it so easy to go to Suncorp stadium for Brisbane Broncos games, my university is just a 5 minute walk away and my work at a law firm in the city is just a 10 minute walk. I also wanted the opportunity to move into a place where I would have the ability to meet new people and make friends as I was the only person from my school and area moving to Brisbane and did not know anyone in Brisbane in general.
-
What is your favourite thing about being a student?
My favourite thing being able to go to uni and socialise with my friends while still working towards my goals
-
What is your favourite thing to do when you are not studying?
My favourite thing to do while not studying is playing touch football at QUT.
-
Are you an Iglu Regional Scholarship Recipient?
Yes
-
How did the Iglu Regional Scholarship help you?
The regional scholarship has allowed me to focus purely on my studies and not have to work as much. This takes significant pressure off my financial situation and has allowed me to focus on my studies.
-
What’s your go-to spot for studying or relaxing at Iglu?
My go to spot is on level 1
-
Describe your favourite thing about Iglu?
My favourite thing is playing pool, listening to music in the media room and having a BBQ.
-
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself hopefully graduated and admitted as a criminal lawyer working at the current law firm I work for.
-
What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?
Even if you are an introverted person or nervous to meet new people, go to level 1 or the events to put yourself out there. When your in a situation where you don’t know anyone in a new big city it can be quite daunting but making friends and putting yourself out there significantly reduces the feeling of isolation and makes your experience at Iglu 10x better.
