Who is my Guardian and can I select them?

If you or your family have relatives or friends residing in the same city as your place of study and are over the age of 21, they may be appointed as your Guardian.

If this is not the case, the University / College will appoint a guardian to care for you whilst you are studying in Australia.

How does my Guardian keep a check on me?

Your nominated guardian must follow the requirements stipulated by your University/College provider. This typically covers health, safety, curfew management and is conducted with regular in person meetings. In the event that an incident was to occur, there is a requirement for such to be escalated and this is done in partnership with your U18 Coordinator at Iglu, the University and your nominated guardian.

How does my Guardian/Iglu know if I am involved in an accident or issue anywhere?

For any health, safety and education related incidents your guardian will be informed. This may be by the student directly, an Iglu appointed representative or the University / College.

Who do I contact in case of an emergency?

Your first point of call is the Under 18’s Coordinator, but you have the onsite Resident Leaders, security, on-call management and your guardian also available should you need.

How do my parents contact my Guardian?

Your University/College will be able to provide your parents with the contact details for your guardian as applicable.
