  • Hi Rachel! What are you studying?

    Bachelor of Medical Sciences

  • Why did you choose to study in Sydney?

Living in a big city, although daunting, always interested me. I visited Sydney prior to moving and instantly fell in love with the city and knew I wanted to live here.

  • Why did you choose to live at Iglu?

My search for accommodation was difficult, however when I came across the Iglu website and read the student stories I knew Iglu was the place for me.

  • What is your favourite thing about being a student?

I love that being a uni student allows me to meet people with various backgrounds from all around the world.

  • What is your favourite thing to do when you are not studying?

When I’m not studying I enjoy getting some fresh air and sun. Whether this is reading in the park next to Iglu Summer Hill or exploring Sydney’s beautiful beaches and coastlines.

  • As an Iglu Regional Scholarship recipient, how did the scholarship help you?

I am incredibly grateful for Iglu’s regional scholarship. It reduces a lot of the stress of moving and ultimately eased the whole process.

  • What is your favourite thing about Iglu?

I love so many things about Iglu such as the friendly and caring staff, great connections you make with residents and the calmness of the building’s courtyard. However my favourite is the events they hold. I’ve tried so many new things I never thought I’d try and built strong friendships through these fun events.

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years I’ll hopefully be studying a postgrad in medicine and still be enjoying the outdoors!

  • What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?

Make sure to put yourself out there! Although it can be scary, introducing yourself and meeting new residents really makes the whole moving process so much easier.
