• Hi Mirra! What are you studying?

  Bachelor of Communications (Digital Media)

• Why did you choose to study in Brisbane?

  I wanted to move away from my regional home and experience a city lifestyle. I enjoy fast paced environments and wanted new opportunities.

  Why did you choose to live at Iglu?

  My sister stayed at one of the Iglu properties before so I knew it would be a good place to live while I studied at uni.

• What is your favourite thing about being a student?

  Getting to try and learn lots of new things! I love the student lifestyle and through uni and Iglu I’ve been able to make amazing friends!

• What is your favourite thing to do when you are not studying?

  I love spending quality time with my friends and going out to explore what Brisbane has to offer. I also enjoy dancing with my uni club in my spare time.

• As an Iglu Regional Scholarship recipient, how did the scholarship help you?

  It definitely made the process of relocating to the city much more achievable.

• So you’re a Resident Leader. What’s your favourite thing about being an RL?

  Getting to meet and talk to so many new people from diverse backgrounds. I’m an extrovert so getting to know people is right up my alley! My biggest goal in life is to make authentic connections with people.

• What is your favourite thing about Iglu?

  Iglu feels like home. The staff have made me feel so welcome in my time here. I’ve made my closest friends in Iglu and I’m so grateful for this safe space where I can live my uni years.

• Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

  I find it difficult to predict the future since I have so many aspirations haha! But wherever I am in the world I see myself surrounded by friends and working towards my goals.

• What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?

  Get involved in the community events as it is a great opportunity to meet new people – this is where I made most of my close friends!
