  • What are you studying?

    Nursing

  • Why did you choose to study in Australia?

I chose Australia because I saw it as a country that is immigrant-friendly, indigenous people-friendly and proactive about preserving it’s original lands. That progressive approach, plus the prosperous future of Australia’s economy and various industries made me want to live here.

  • Why did you choose to study in Brisbane?

Brisbane is one of the leading cities in Australia. I felt that Sydney is already over-saturated with people and job opportunities, in contrast, I’ve found Brisbane to be competitive yet opportunistic for furthering my education and career.

  • What’s your favourite thing about being a student?

I love that I have unlimited access to academic sources and that I can ask reasonable and constructive questions without worrying about being judged. I can still progress within my field, learning through trials and mistakes without being pulled down or held back.

  • What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not studying?

I like walking around the park to take in the scenery and have lunch. I also like socialising with my friends at the many outdoor cafes and bars around Brisbane. I love exploring South Bank and riding the Wheel of Brisbane at night to observe the contrasting views of the working city and quiet suburbs. I also like to stay in – cooking food and watching scary movies!

  • What’s your favourite thing about Iglu?

I believe Iglu is more than just accommodation, it is a small community where managers and staff remember and care for residents – who they are, what they study, and what they are interested in.

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I’ll have graduated from QUT and I’ll be working in ICU as a registered nurse at Royal Brisbane Women Hospital, I’ll also be attending QUT for my master of anaesthetic nursing degree.

  • What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?

Value every relationship you build in every community you engage in. Do not be afraid to give and share; do not be afraid to be hurt or to be rejected – give your best.
