Why did you choose to study in Brisbane?
I chose to study in Brisbane because it offers a great balance between quality education and lifestyle. The city is home to some of Australia’s top universities, and I knew it would provide strong academic support and future career opportunities. Coming from the Northern Territory, I was also looking for a change of pace, and Brisbane’s vibrant, multicultural environment felt like the right fit. The warm weather, friendly atmosphere, and access to both city life and nature made it an ideal place to live and study.

Why did you choose to live at Iglu?
I chose to live at Iglu Kelvin Grove because it’s conveniently located near my university, making it easy to get to classes on time. I also appreciate the sense of community and the social events that make it easy to meet new people. Overall, it’s a great balance between convenience, comfort, and lifestyle.

So you’re a Resident Leader. What’s your favourite thing about being an RL?
My favourite thing about being a Resident Leader is getting to connect with so many different people and helping build a positive, welcoming community. I enjoy being someone others can turn to for support, whether it’s answering questions, helping them settle in, or just being there for a chat. It’s also really rewarding to help run events and see everyone come together and have a good time.

What’s your go-to spot for studying or relaxing at Iglu?
When I need to study, I usually head to the study room because it’s quiet and has everything I need to focus. But when I want to relax and unwind, the pool room is my go-to. It’s a fun way to take a break and chill with friends.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see myself working remotely in Queensland or the Northern Territory as a registered nurse, providing quality healthcare to underserved communities. I aim to develop my clinical skills further while embracing the unique challenges and rewards that come with working in remote areas. I also hope to contribute to improving healthcare access and outcomes for Indigenous populations, making a positive impact both professionally and personally.

What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?
Embrace the community and be open to connecting with others, some of the best experiences come from the people you meet and the bonds you build. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, join events, and share your own stories. Remember, everyone is here to support each other, so lean into that positive energy and make the most of your time. Your experience will be what you make of it, so bring kindness, curiosity, and an open heart.
