  • What are you studying?

Bachelor of Fine Arts – Music

  • Why did you choose to study in Brisbane?

When I migrated to Brisbane in 2014 with my family, we decided to stay in Brisbane. I was in Year 10 when we moved and by the time I graduated high school I already had a few great industry connections in Brisbane. I really enjoy the living and music scene in the city. Brisbane has a lot of hidden gems within itself, it is also a city where everything is in close proximity to each other. There is a lot of art, cultural events and great musicians in this city. It is still growing, but the city has definitely made a name for itself and it’s strong identity in Australia.

  • What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not studying?

My favourite things to do when not studying would be playing guitar, making music, listening to music (live music and gigs included), teach marching drums, hanging out with friends and just taking it easy and giving time for my mind and body to rest. It’s important to stop and take a look around every once in a while, cause life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and take a look around every once in a while, you could miss it.

  • What’s your favourite thing about Iglu?

My favourite thing about Iglu is the strong sense of community around the building. Everyone is polite and waves when they walk past each other, there are a lot of fun events to take part in throughout the year such as Karaoke, Cooking Classes, and Trivia Nights, just to name a few.

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I see myself as a music educator, drumline director and performing musician. To achieve those goals I will have to continue teaching marching drums and form a drumline of my own, either freelance or within a school to create a community of dedicated and interested musicians. In regard to performing, I will have to continue making music in my band and with anyone who is interested in making music and wanting to make a name for themselves in the music industry.

  • What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?

Don’t take yourself so seriously, it’s okay to have fun!
