Living in a big city, although daunting, always interested me. I visited Sydney prior to moving and instantly fell in love with the city and knew I wanted to live here.
My search for accommodation was difficult, however when I came across the Iglu website and read the student stories I knew Iglu was the place for me.
I love that being a uni student allows me to meet people with various backgrounds from all around the world.
When I’m not studying I enjoy getting some fresh air and sun. Whether this is reading in the park next to Iglu Summer Hill or exploring Sydney’s beautiful beaches and coastlines.
I am incredibly grateful for Iglu’s regional scholarship. It reduces a lot of the stress of moving and ultimately eased the whole process.
I love so many things about Iglu such as the friendly and caring staff, great connections you make with residents and the calmness of the building’s courtyard. However my favourite is the events they hold. I’ve tried so many new things I never thought I’d try and built strong friendships through these fun events.
In five years I’ll hopefully be studying a postgrad in medicine and still be enjoying the outdoors!
Make sure to put yourself out there! Although it can be scary, introducing yourself and meeting new residents really makes the whole moving process so much easier.
Bachelor of Architecture and Environments.
Because I feel like Australia is a place that has a variety of cultures. It offers an environment for international students to fit in, experience different cultures and interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
My favourite thing about being a uni student is the flexibility you get from the schedule. You can manage your own time and do the things you like.
Playing my guitar and making music!!! I feel like music is my getaway from all the troubles and challenges I face during the day, and it is also an excellent way to express my feelings.
Hosting the event! Sometimes preparing for an event can be exhausting but it always turns out fun and everyone is having a good time.
My favourite thing about Iglu is the community. It’s a great place to meet new people and all the staff are nice and friendly!
Um… retired or start a band and become famous.
Good luck in school.
Bachelor of Game Design
Australia is culturally diverse and it is a beautiful country with plenty to see and do.
Sydney is a diverse, multicultural city, making it easy to meet new people and have new experiences.
It was a lovely experience. The room was very comfortable and student-friendly. Staff were very helpful and supportive. Iglu Summer Hill has many superb facilities like common areas, study rooms, a 24/7 gym, ping pong and pool table.
As an international student, I’m able to explore opportunities and I have opportunities to engage with other fellow students.
I enjoy playing video games, basketball and guitar and I really love meeting new people and hearing about their life in Sydney.
I love meeting other students so this is an ideal job for me.
Iglu is a very healthy place to stay as a student.
I see myself keep fighting in the path of video game designer.
Time is money. Now or never. If you have something you want to do, just do it!
Master of Commerce
The weather is very pleasant, and I enjoy the lifestyle here.
Sydney is culturally diverse city, it provides a unique and enriching experience for the people who live here. And we can have the opportunity to interact with people from different backgrounds.
Everything in Iglu is super convenient, living in a good location- close to the train station. And it is a supportive and safe community.
Meet many like-minded friends and no need to worry too much about life.
Watching Tiktok and TV shows.
Connecting with the residents and holding various events!
The fancy living environment and the events, where the community can gather, chill, and connect with one another through various relaxing activities.
Work and settle down in Australia.
Work hard, play hard and take care of yourself!
Bachelor of Nursing
Diversity.
I chose Sydney because of its popularity.
Because of the facility and location.
Learning opportunities!
Reading and researching on different subjects that I find interesting.
The interaction with residents and being a part of a team.
Facility and hospitality.
Hopefully, working as an RN in Australia.
Take your time. You’ll be fine.

One of the benefits of studying in Australia as an international student is the opportunity to apply for a post-study work visa after graduation. This visa allows international students to remain in Australia for up to three years after completing their studies to gain work experience and build their careers.
Sydney is vibrant economy, diverse job opportunities, and strong network of universities make it a prime location for graduates like me looking to kick-start their career.
Because Iglu offers safe and secure living options with high-quality accommodation in Australia.
We don’t have to worry about things that much when we’re being a student. Moreover, while studying, we can also work part-time as well.
Cooking, working out, visiting new cafes and restaurants.
Being a resident leader helps me develop a range of valuable skills, including communication and problem-solving skills. We are responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive community for residents, while also addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.
Free breakfast and monthly events.
Working in a big company in Australia.
Don’t be afraid to take risks and step outside of your comfort zone.
Medicine
I wanted a change to the normal student college life and knew I needed to take the opportunity to expand my cultural knowledge for a once in a life time experience. We are all only young once… why not follow our dreams?
Sydney was the only program that was offered from my home university for my major.
I love how close everything is and so I really feel connected with the city during my study abroad experience.
I love going to the gym and exploring new places. There is so much to the world and every person you meet has their own unique story. I love to learn from other people and try new things.
I haven’t moved in yet (2 days!) but I love the activities that are offered and the breakfasts in the morning as well.
In 5 years, I will be in medical school studying to become an MD.
If the thing you’re thinking about even remotely interests you, just try it. If you don’t like it you can cross it off your list and go on to the next. It’s better to be able to say you didn’t like something than to have regrets. We are the youngest we will ever be now and we have little to no major obligations in life currently. Be safe but take some risks because personal growth happens outside the net of comfort.
Master of Commerce
Because the University of Sydney has a good reputation and high ranking, I can also experience Australia’s culture and beautiful nature.
I can meet and communicate with other students; learning new knowledge every day is enjoyable, and it has a strong direction during student life.
Just walking around in the city, hanging out with friends.
I can make more friends, organize and participate in various activities. Interacting and helping others makes me happy.
Convenient location, good service, all kinds of eating and outdoor activities in the apartment.
Work in a finance or data science-related field, apply what I have learned, and start my own business if the right opportunity arises.
Have fun and enjoy your student life every day.
Bachelor of Business
Because I like the pace of life in Australia and the beautiful scenery, it makes me feel very comfortable.
Because Sydney is a relatively prosperous area and I like the culture and living environment of Sydney, I feel very happy to study here.
Because Iglu is a safe and private apartment, I can participate in activities here which quickly help me integrate into the daily life of Sydney. The people here are very friendly and enthusiastic, and it is also very close to my school UTS, which provides me with a lot of convenience.
I can communicate with students from other different regions or countries, so as to understand and learn from different cultures.
Read books, watch movies and play computer games.
Can deepen communication with more different residents and help them, I enjoy the sense of accomplishment from helping others.
Good cultural atmosphere, delicious breakfast and colourful activities.
China
Be brave enough to participate in colourful activities and try to make friends from different cultural backgrounds. This will enrich your life and help you adapt quickly to life in Sydney.
Bachelor of Science. Major in Coastal and Ocean Science, Minor in Earth Science.
I went to an Australian university fair in Singapore, where I looked for schools offering marine science majors. And I applied to a few Australian Universities and eventually decided on studying at UQ.
The university suited my needs and preferences the best!
Student accommodation, as recommended to me by the university website seemed the best option for me, as apposed to colleges or share houses. Having looked at a handful of student accommodation options, Iglu’s website was the easiest to use and most informative. The location of Iglu Brisbane City appealed to me, being in the city, near both the city and other areas like South Bank. Transport to university is also relatively convenient.
Meeting new people in university and getting new experiences in a field I have not previously had much exposure to.
Making and drinking coffee, spending time with people, playing games on my phone, watching Youtube and sports like F1.
Being able to meet and help other residents in Iglu only upgrades my experience living in Iglu. I think it is a key part of what has made my time spent living in Iglu as enjoyable as it has been.
The staff here are extremely warm and welcoming, which might not be what you expect from a student accommodation, but it has proved to be one of the biggest positives of being an Iglu resident. The events are a great way to meet new people, it is especially good if you are moving somewhere where you may not know anyone yet.
After graduating from university, I would like to be as involved with the outdoors as possible, especially the ocean. Being a dive instructor or working at one of Queensland’s many marine parks would be a dream.
Make the most of the many offerings Iglu has to give you. Attend as many events as you can, get to know the staff and other residents. Many of my closest friends in Australia have been made through these events. As an international student I think this is extremely helpful and has made moving to a new country so much easier, and more fun.
Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology)
I chose Australia because the education providers design courses to equip students with practical skills, knowledge and inspire thought-leading creativity among their students.
I chose Sydney because of its academic institution’s research and employability credibility, the cultural diversity and the weather.
I chose to call Iglu home because it is safe, supportive and has a community. I love my role as a Resident Leader where I enjoy fostering a sense of community, belonging, and supporting the residents where I can.
I love the flexibility of being a student, I can study and complete assessments when and where I want. I get to meet new people, explore the beautiful cities and cultures Australia offers, not bound by work hours.
I love exploring the city, trying new restaurants, hanging out with my friends, and of course shopping, with endless student discounts.
I enjoy planning and executing social events every month, working with a great and supportive team that goes above and beyond to improve the student experience.
My favourite has to be the events, I love the community coming together, enjoying the evening together and bonding over relaxing activities.
Hopefully, I will have graduated with my Bachelors in Exercise Physiology and am well underway with my Masters of Physiotherapy. Along with being a girl boss and a prospering startup. Not to mention living with my dogs.
SLAY All day, Every day!

Bachelor of Commerce (Business Analytics and Data Science)
I have visited Sydney many times in the 2010’s and I really love the city landscape and how chill everyone is. My father also went to Deakin University in Melbourne so he was happy for me to pursue higher education in Australia as well.
As mentioned before, the city landscape is gorgeous and the people are amazing. Once I moved here I was more amazed by the very relaxed and civil working culture (:
Iglu Central Park is located in a very convenient location, with a shopping mall filled with entertainment and Woolies just around the corner. It is also within walking distance to USYD!
During my first inspection, I knew I would enjoy living at Iglu. The building layout is beautiful, equipped with various common areas like the theatre room, games room, study rooms, etc… There are also many weekly social events and a breakfast bar, and I could not say no to new friends and free food!
Having the freedom to try anything I want, not being restrained by strict working hours, pursuing my studies at a beautiful campus alongside peers of the same demographic!
I like to relax by playing League of Legends with friends at Fortress located in Central Park Mall!
I get to work with a great team, and create fun and rewarding weekly events for residents to enjoy.
The Iglu lobby! That’s where everyone usually gathers and the open space is very pretty!
I am hoping to become a Senior Business Analyst in Sydney! (And hopefully be able to apply for an Australian Citizenship by then…)
Work hard (and smart)! Make lots of friends and don’t forget to take care of yourself.
Bachelor of Arts
I have some family and high school friends here. Also, I was excited to explore the depths of the city on my own!
To be close to the night life, the day life, you name it! Everything happens here in the cbd, everything is a quick walk away. The museums, performing arts centre, World Science Festival, walk trails, bike trails, restaurants, gardens. There are endless things to do with the new friends I expected to make at Iglu! And friends I indeed made!
Probably the fact my hunger for learning is always fed!
Eating. That or simply exploring the city with some good company.
It really helped aid my financials while I was dealing with big big life stresses like family health and moving away from home! It genuinely made my move possible in the first place so I’ll forever be grateful for it. It really was the extra fuel to help kick-start my fantastic future here in the city, immersed in UQ life.
Oh man, where to begin. First of all, the workplace is so close to home in more ways than one. Not only do I have an easy walk to work every shift, but also my coworkers feel like friends and family too me! And then the residents, getting to know them at events, what their passions are and where they’re from is always an absolute joy for me. They make the job so enjoyable, becoming RL genuinely felt like winning a prize!
I could say the breakfasts we get here, but I’m gonna have to say the people I’ve met along the way always win.
Hopefully as a humanitarian! I major in Peace and Conflict studies so I sure hope my degree is my gateway to make that dream come true!
Don’t feel rushed to fill your pin board. Let it slowly grow over time from all the memories you make. I am certain by the end of your stay, it should be full of photos and mementos.
Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film, Screen and New Media)
There were many criteria and situations to think of when studying abroad, most of it fall under safety. After doing my research, I find that Australia is relatively safer and accommodating to my lifestyle I have back at home!
Other than the fact that my sister used to study in Brisbane, I also find that there’s a balanced vibe in Brisbane as compared to the other cities – it’s not too laid back, nor too fast-paced – and it’s just the right balance I needed to be able to adapt away from home! Apart from that, I was also more drawn to Brisbane because of the opportunity to study film!
Starting a whole new life in a whole new country as an introvert is hard, I knew that if I were to live completely on my own, I’d stay a hermit. I searched up student accommodations online and came across Iglu and I loved how the property looked, as well as how student-oriented the community is!
The student discounts for sure! The assignments can be overwhelming and stressful but the discounts probably balance them out.
Gymming! If I’m not in the gym destroying my body, you’d probably find me at any of the lovely cafes here in Brisbane just chilling and reading <3
The events! Other than hosting and planning events for the residents, I also do enjoy interacting and meeting new personalities during these events!
Definitely the community! As mentioned, I started off as an introvert and it was really difficult for me to step out of my comfort zone because I would get so anxious meeting new people. After almost a year in Iglu, I’ve met the sweetest bunch of friends and it’s safe to say they’ve pulled me out of my shell and I’m a lot more confident and outgoing than I was before!
I’ve always had this ambitious goal where I’d end up in my own penthouse while chilling with my cat, so hopefully I’m already on my way to achieving that goal in 5 years.
One thing that I’ve learnt being here is to really; do it for you. It’s always you vs you in this world, you’re your biggest competitor so stop comparing yourself to the people around you!! Starting a whole new life in uni can be intimidating, but you got this! <3
Master of Finance
I love this country and its culture.
I chose Sydney because I wanted to study and work in a major city.
Iglu seemed to be the best student accommodation in Sydney and Iglu Central is the nearest to my University.
That I get to meet new people everyday and acquire new knowledge.
Go out with friends, playing games etc.
I get to work at the same place I stay in. It is a really suitable job for me.
The people are so friendly around here. The services Iglu provide is top-notch.
Running my own business.
Know that you are lucky to have the opportunity to stay at Iglu and never miss an event at happens at your property.
Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Training)
I had spent my whole life in one country -China- in an international school. I really loved the fact that I was able to learn about multiple cultures and regions which made diversity a huge part of my life. Melbourne being home to so many international students was the best place for me to study and live.
I chose to stay at Iglu because of the events and the daily breakfast. The events and the daily breakfast make it so much easier to make friends. It’s like a big family having breakfast every day together 🙂
Being a university student is more than just studying and I love that about the university student life. At times it does get stressful as it does involve a lot of adulting, however, within a lot of kids who are attempting the adulting bit, we make so many friends and that is what I absolutely love about being a student. The connections you build as a uni student stay for a lifetime.
I enjoy spending time with my friends, and that usually involves playing sports, watching sports or just going out for a bite. Australia is home to some of the most beautiful sport stadiums so I always enjoy going to live AFL or Cricket matches.
I love the interactive bit. The connections and friends I have made as an RL will forever be close to me.
My favorite thing about Iglu is the diversity. There are so many people from different places around the world and I love learning and hearing about their cultures. Everyone has a different background, a different field of study and that’s what interests me the most.
Flying planes, hopefully for airlines 🙂
Sign up for all the events! Do NOT hesitate, or you will regret it.
Postgraduate studies: Juris Doctor in Law
When I studied at The University of Melbourne for my Bachelors Degree in International Relations and Criminology, I really enjoyed the course and thrived in the Australian education system. I made meaningful friendships, was very involved in multiple leadership positions at a variety of student societies as well as founding non profit organizations such as the Women In Commerce and Politics on campus: these valuable experiences helped develop strong skillsets that went on to influence my career path as an entrepreneur and a presenter/policy researcher in cybercrime prevention. The Australian education has also helped me navigate through the job market easily, with internship offers from multiple international law firms. Having witnessed how beneficial the Australian education system has been for me, and with aspirations to become a lawyer in the long run – I chose yet again to return to Australia to do my Juris Doctor in Law starting in Jan 2024!
I find Melbourne to be calm, with the perfect environment for anyone who wants to really focus on their studies. I also find that healthy food is easily accessible in Melbourne and is also very compatible with my fitness plans as a competitive martial artist.
My agent in Hong Kong suggested me to stay at Iglu. I also find staff members to be super friendly, supportive and understanding – which is very important to ensure that students have a great student experience during their time there.
I love studying, making friends, getting involved and making friends in societies and initiatives that support my interests.
I love fitness, boxing, martial arts, singing and cafe hopping especially in Melbourne where there are many great coffee hotspots around the city!
I love the spacious nature of my room, and the lobby compared to other rooms I have lived in at different accommodations like Scape and Student Village. I love the breakfast served in the mornings, and the friendliness of the staff members at the counter.
As a commercial lawyer, I see myself working in a business city, like Sydney for the first few years and then Hong Kong and/or London in the long run.
Make Friends, Be Ambitious and Make Pragmatic plans to reach your goals but also don’t forget to Laugh and Enjoy along the way!!
Bachelor of Music, majoring in Classical Performance.
I chose Australia because I wanted to go to UniMelb to study with my instrument teacher.
Student concessions and discounts.
Go for a walk.
I got to talk to other residents more.
Very nice room design.
Enjoy your time in Iglu. It will definitely be one of the most memorable time you spent in Australia.
Marketing Communications
I chose to study in Australia to step out of my comfort zone, embark on a journey of self-discovery, and establish a new life in a different country.
Melbourne’s vibrant diversity attracted me to choose it as my study destination. And of course city of coffee and food!
Because it offers an all-in-one living experience.
Learning and broadening my horizons.
Socializing with people, discovering new places, cooking new recipes, meditation, running, travelling, self-development.
One of the things I absolutely love about being a Resident Leader is how holistic the job is. It’s not just about providing customer service, but also about genuinely connecting with residents, understanding their unique needs, and delivering personalized assistance. I get to tap into my creativity by planning and organizing events that bring everyone in the community closer. Being a leader and helping residents navigate various challenges is incredibly fulfilling. And let’s not forget, our training process is fantastic! It prepares us with the skills and knowledge we need to excel in our roles.
I love that Iglu is unique and different from other student accommodations. Sally once mentioned how each Iglu property is custom-designed and provides warm hospitality, and I can personally attest to experiencing that first hand. It’s what makes Iglu so special to me
In 5 years, I see myself rocking my own team and running my own business. I’ll be embracing my true self, becoming a more authentic version of me.
Once you are fully invested into being really honest with yourself, you won’t put yourself into places where there’s no room for growth.
Teaching
There’s no better place to improve English skills than in a country full of unique slang and expressions that won’t be found elsewhere, like “G’day, mate” and “No worries”.
For people who’ve been tired of cold winters, please come here and say goodbye to snow, because it’s always sunny (well, almost always).
For the amazing bedside TV, then I could be the pillow prince instead of a couch potato.
Pulling assignment-induced all-nighters as the perfect excuse for a daytime nap.
Getting lost in the vast and intricate world of procrastination, and all of a sudden realise how short on time and how far behind progress.
Absolutely the leftover pizza from food events, which I’ve hosted quite frequently. Just kidding (sort of). But seriously, it’s great to approach people with a friendly face and practice “how to make small talk” skills.
No doubt the sense of community, I mean it, just like one big lovingly supportive family where we all share an obsession with fast food and procrastination.
In five years, I see myself sitting on a throne made entirely of doughnuts, living in a magical castle made of cotton candy, and ruling over a kingdom of dessert-loving subjects.
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese, please do consider your strategy wisely.
Bachelor of Communications (Digital Media)
I wanted to move away from my regional home and experience a city lifestyle. I enjoy fast paced environments and wanted new opportunities.
My sister stayed at one of the Iglu properties before so I knew it would be a good place to live while I studied at uni.
Getting to try and learn lots of new things! I love the student lifestyle and through uni and Iglu I’ve been able to make amazing friends!
I love spending quality time with my friends and going out to explore what Brisbane has to offer. I also enjoy dancing with my uni club in my spare time.
It definitely made the process of relocating to the city much more achievable.
Getting to meet and talk to so many new people from diverse backgrounds. I’m an extrovert so getting to know people is right up my alley! My biggest goal in life is to make authentic connections with people.
Iglu feels like home. The staff have made me feel so welcome in my time here. I’ve made my closest friends in Iglu and I’m so grateful for this safe space where I can live my uni years.
I find it difficult to predict the future since I have so many aspirations haha! But wherever I am in the world I see myself surrounded by friends and working towards my goals.
Get involved in the community events as it is a great opportunity to meet new people – this is where I made most of my close friends!
Bachelor of Education (Primary and Special Education)
I chose to live in Melbourne as it is closest to my home town and convenient to be close to my family and my University.
I chose to live at Iglu as ACU recommended Iglu as a student accommodation. It was also very close to my uni and I had the opportunity to meet new people and try new things!
I would say being a student is great because you can reap the benefits but honestly the best thing about being a student is the people you meet along the way. Every class I’m meeting new people and in student accommodation I meet people through events so it’s a really community and positive environment.
I love to go and socialise when I’m not studying. I love trying new restaurants and bars, I will eat anything so trying all new cuisines and flavours is so exciting to me!
Being from regional Victoria, paying rent for the first time was always going to be difficult. I had no idea how I was going to manage my money however with the help of the Iglu Regional Scholarship I was able have a bit of help which I was really grateful for.
I have always thrived in leadership positions so when the opportunity to become an RL it was a no-brainer. I have always loved working as a team so having the opportunity to broaden my skills and work with all sorts of people was really fun!
My favourite thing about Iglu is the events they hold and the facilities they provide. The events allow all residents to get to know each other and there are also some awesome opportunities to do some great things around the city! Not everywhere you can have free breakfast throughout the weekdays, a free gym and cinema room in your building so residents are really lucky!
I want to be hopefully in a stable job and potentially around the country or across the world. I want to meet as many people as I can and see as much as I can across the world.
I always use the 3 rule. Will it matter in 3 weeks? Will it matter in 3 months? Will it matter in 3 years? This helps me to feel grounded and be present in the moment.
Accounting
Because of the stories about kangaroos! And koalas!
My brother is also studying here, so I thought “why not?”.
One day my brother came up to me and said “Hey I signed you up”, and I said “cool”. But if I have to choose one, it’ll be that it’s close to the university and the city centre.
I like learning things and meeting people! Their thoughts and experiences are often times amazing.
Sleeping 😀 and exploring the town.
I think I enjoy being able to connect with others instead of being inside my room all day long. It’s a change of pace.
Hmm, the morning coffee is the first thing that popped into my mind.
Living somewhere in the world, hopefully enjoying life.
Enjoy life with a morning cup of coffee!
Psychology.
Australia has the infrastructure of a good education of London minus the depressing weather.
Since the food was good. Melbourne City it was.
I heard good things about Iglu while getting socked by my boxing partner who was a previous resident at one of their properties.
The freedom to do whatever you want anytime you want.
Going on bike rides. Be it up mountains, down mountains, through water or even just going in a giant circle 100 times, bike riding is the number 1 activity I do when not straddled down by coursework.
I get a good excuse to talk to new people everyday and make new friends through the guise of being an approachable RL.
Bike parking. With such a secure bike storage room with 24/7 security camera coverage, I can rest easy at night knowing my bike won’t be stolen and ride away never to be seen ever again.
Riding my bike, cleaning my bike, planning bike rides and hopefully be in my 1st year of my masters.
What’s the worst that can come out of introducing yourself to someone new at breakfast?
Master of Financial Analysis.
I chose Australia because I wanted to experience living far away from my home country and I thought Australia was far enough.
I read Melbourne was the cultural capital of Australia, as well because it always appeared on the list of the most liveable cities in the world.
The location was really convenient. It was a modern and new building. Heard a lot of good references from other students.
Getting constant new knowledge, increasing skills and networking.
Swimming, playing poker and listening to podcasts.
By being a Resident Leader it provides me the opportunity to be in constant contact with residents with backgrounds from all over the world, it gives me the opportunity to increase soft skills such as communication, leadership, team work and problem solving, all of this by having fun with other residents.
The community, flexibility and the friendship environment.
I see myself as a Credit Risk Director in an important bank in Australia or in Mexico. I see myself having enough time to spend with my dog, keep swimming and running and keep exploring the world and it’s beautiful nature.
Welcome all experiences. You never know which one is going to turn everything on!
Information Technology
It grants me an opportunity to view the world from the different perspective.

Bachelor of Education (Primary)
Melbourne is the closest major city to where my family lives.
Honestly, it was advertised through my university. But I have stayed for 3 years because of the facilities, amazing people and opportunities.
There are so many opportunities to understand who you really are.
Working out.
It enabled me to feel financially secure enough to move out of home after a tricky first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Being a friendly face to people in the building!
The people.
Hard to tell, doing something that challenges me both physically and mentally.
If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.
Bachelor of Education (Primary)
I chose to study in Brisbane because I wanted to experience the city life, without being too far away from my home town. I love that Brisbane still has a coziness about it, so it feels familiar.
I was looking into student accommodation and Iglu looked super hip and cool, and I had friends from high school stay here and they absolutely loved the Iglu life.
I am an absolute shopaholic so the student discounts are a major plus. Otherwise getting to know so many people with such diverse backgrounds!
I love to hang out with my friends. We are pretty much inseparable, inside and out of Iglu.
I love being able to interact with so many different people, and having such good workmates makes this a dream job. Brainstorming events then making them a reality for our residents is also super fun.
I love the people. The office staff have helped make Brisbane feel like home, and I have made friends here that will be with me for the rest of my life.
If all goes to plan, I’ll be teaching young children in 5 years, which is terrifying but also super exciting!
Don’t stay holed up in your room! As comfy as it can be, I made some of my closest friends by hanging out in common areas, and going to events!
Bachelor of Communication/Law
Because it’s easy and convenient. Close to public transport.
A well respected organisation for students so that’s why I chose to stay at Iglu and have loved it.
Free Food
Songwriting and Photography
Free Events and Breakfast.
Becoming a Performing Arts Teacher.
Make sure to do your research and have fun.
Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
When I was 15, I made the decision to study high school in Australia. When people ask me why I chose Australia, I often mention that it felt closer to home since it’s only an 8-hour flight and has a time difference of just 2 hours ahead of Taiwan. But to be completely honest, I also believe it was meant to be.
I didn’t give myself too many options when applying to universities. Fortunately, I was accepted by The University of Sydney, which was my top choice.
You get a lot of student discounts!
I often read and watch Netflix if I don’t feel like going out. I also love participating in Iglu events, the more the merrier!
I love the staff and RLs! They are always kind and friendly. My second favourite is the brekkie we get each morning!
In five years, I want to be rocking it as a skilled vet, handling my professional responsibilities like a pro while still having a great work-life balance. Life’s all about excelling in both career and personal goals!
Stay gritty! You never know what you can achieve if you don’t try hard enough. As I learnt from one of the TED talks by Amy Cuddy — “Fake it until you become it.”
English
It’s a beautiful country that I’ve always wanted to visit and the climate is very similar to Brazil’s.
I chose Sydney because it is the biggest city and because there are many beautiful places here that I always wanted to visit.
Being able to learn something new is always good and as I am still young, being fluent in another language will help me a lot in the college I intend to do in Brazil.
Watching TV shows and listening to music.
The people are very kind and it is a very cozy place.
Attending college in Brazil.
Don’t hesitate to choose this place, it’s a very cozy place and the people are amazing. I feel at home.
Bachelor of Music, Classical Performance on Cello
It was an affordable, convenient option which would allow me to focus on studying as opposed to managing home admin, or spend on furnishing. Offered good access to amenities both external and internal.
Iglu was a convenient, comfortable affordable option which offered not only good location in access to necessities and university but also its own community of both student and staff alike.
It meant I was able to worry less about necessities and rent, and could spend most of my attention and focus on my studies which is the main reason I’m in Melbourne to begin with.
The community which is always there and supportive. I really value the ability to be around and meet so many people from different walks of life and backgrounds, and who may share some common interests, yet may also lead me to different interests. Largely this is started in the events, and then furthered by the facilities provided allowing residents to interact with each other. However, I’m also glad that if I need some time to myself, or simply need to focus on practice or study, I’m able to do so and not feel pressured in anyway to participate in these activities. That flexibility means that I can enjoy my free time and study time knowing that there is no pressure at all from my residence.
The convenience and comfort was my key reason for living at Iglu. Not needing to buy furniture, worry about bills, location, inspections, wifi and many other necessary amenities and devote my attention to study and work is something I value highly both for the sake of productivity and enjoyment of university life.
Get amongst the events, especially when everyone is still new to the building, find some people you’ll want to be around, and enjoy as much of the university experience as you can!
Bachelor of Speech Pathology
Iglu Chatswood was in a really convenient location nearby to my university. The room options allowed for independent but still plenty of social opportunity.
I like that I feel supported whilst keeping my independence. I think it was a great step for me having never lived away from home before.
It was a major factor in deciding where to stay. Given I don’t have family in Sydney, the airfares to see family, e.g. in Darwin, are considerable so any financial support was much appreciated 😀
The locations are convenient and are a good stepping stone for moving away from home.
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) specialised in Mechanical Engineering
I chose to move into Iglu with a mate that I grew up with. It was very difficult for us to find an apartment together but Iglu seemed to offer everything we were searching for and more! We were attracted to the highly convenient location of Iglu Chatswood, cool design, available amenities such as the gym and the warm welcoming experience from the staff.
Iglu offers everything a university student could ask for! The location of the Chatswood building makes it a breeze for me to make it to my classes in about 20 minutes (door to door). The fun events which are held weekly has allowed me to make so many new friends and create awesome memories. The privacy and the comfort of my room is another amazing bonus. There are many other great things about Iglu such as the support available, the responsiveness/ friendliness of the staff and facilities available for booking.
The regional scholarship was a significant advantage given to me by Iglu. Moving to Sydney was a massive change for me since I grew up in a country town, so the scholarship greatly allowed me to adjust to the city life and definitely helped a lot with the challenge of self sustainment.
Definitely move in!! You will love everything about Iglu from the building design and comfort all the way to the awesome community that live here! You are sure to create amazing new friendships and live in an extremely supportive and fun environment, it is literally a home away from home.
Paramedic Science
It’s the best place to study Paramedicine in Queensland.
Having free time to explore, meet new people and have fun.
I like to hang out at home with my friends or cruise around Brisbane’s night life.
The scholarship made the transition to university and a tighter packed area easier.
The community. Whether it is the team or residents, everyone is friendly and able to have a talk to.
Hopefully, working in a pre-hospital medical capacity.
Make the most of uni while you are here!
Bachelor of Entertainment Business Management
I chose to live at Iglu because of the Regional Scholarship. The stress free aspects of only having to pay rent and not worry about facilities, bills etc. made it really easy to move out of home.
My niche course in live music and entertainment wasn’t available at local unis. Studying in Sydney gives me the opportunity to really get a hands-on experience in live music as there’s so much around. I love getting amongst the industry and what it has to offer, and Sydney is the perfect place for this.
I love the social side of being a student. There’s always a student night on or an event where I can meet people in similar situations to me. I love meeting new people and having a good time. Whether at uni or at a social night, being a student is the best way to start a conversation.
When I’m not studying, I’m usually out watching live music of some form. I love the industry and how it connects people so getting amongst the atmosphere and energy of music is exactly what I need to escape from it all.
I love the social side of Iglu and how easy it is to meet people. I also like the simplicity of it. Just moving out of home, I only have to worry about rent, not water or Wi-Fi. It’s a great first step out of living with your parents. You’re never lonely in the sense of there is always someone to talk to and you’re always meeting new people. It feels like a big school camp in a way, it’s fun to live with your friends and even better when you have your own apartment.
The scholarship has brought me stability and an opportunity to step into adulthood with the safety and simplicity of Iglu and its rooms. I’ve also been able to access the Entertainment Industry first hand. Without this scholarship I would be travelling a 6 hour round commute to uni each day. I have been able to gain industry experience and land an industry job whilst meeting awesome people along the way.
I love connecting with residents and putting on events. Studying event management I’m able to put my passions to use outside of uni and create social, bubbly spaces for our residents.
Hopefully, I see myself well graduated out of uni with some lifelong mates. As a career I’ll be either bringing light to regional towns like mine by holding massive music festivals on their land or touring with a band around Australia as their tour manager. Overall, just creating opportunities and spaces for people to share the love of live music and have a good time.
Take advantage of the breakfast bar! No, for real. Meet as many people as you can. Iglu is filled with amazing students who you will make lifelong mates with. Meet the resident leaders and Iglu staff as well. At the end of the day they’re the ones who will help you and they’re more than happy to give you a hand when you need one. It is a great way to meet new people with the comfort of your own space. It’s simple with the one weekly rent payment instead of worrying about bills etc. Its a great transition to independence from moving out of home.
Master of Teaching
I chose to study in Brisbane as that is where I am from, and my partner Bailey is from as well. We have both have family close by. Living at Iglu allows me to be on the doorstep of my university but close enough to still go home for holidays and weekends.
My favourite thing about being a student is learning about new things! I also love to meet different people and build connections with others.
I like to perform in musical theatre shows and love to do karaoke. You can also find me enjoying the incredible local Kelvin Grove restaurants with my partner Bailey.
I love the close-knit community and all the social activities that occur regularly. I also really enjoy the karaoke nights!
I aim to be working as a film teacher in a high school educating the next generation of film makers. I also aim to be making my own films and creating my own content.
It’s okay to fail, as long as you are happy with your effort.
Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing)
What attracted me to complete my studies in Sydney was the locality, and opportunities to expand my network in a faster-paced environment.
Connecting with like-minded and passionate students from diverse backgrounds, and developing my learning.
When living away from home it is crucial to get involved in extra-curricular activities to help make new connections, establish some normality and positively dedicate your time. This semester I am involved with Macquarie University sporting teams and am the Sponsorship Director of a student society.
I love how approachable everyone is, from the Iglu staff, to the fellow University students. Also, the monthly events hosted by Iglu are also extremely worthwhile, and enhance that sense of community feeling.
Ideally gaining experience within the legal profession as an in-house lawyer, or kick starting my own personal business venture.
Some advice would be that there is ‘no comfort in change, and no change in comfort’… so embrace opportunities, and whilst living independently can be challenging, it is a challenge worth investing in.
Audio Engineering / Sound Production
I was studying English at a language school. Australia was one of my travel goals for so long now, especially Sydney. The land full of Kangaroos and Koalas. I have to admit though, I do not like Koalas. I cannot tell why, but I do not like them. When I was younger, I had the picture in my mind that Kangaroos must be great boxers, and that one day I wanted to fight a Kangaroo. Weird I know, but I was like 6. I think we all had weird dreams when we were 6.
I am a man full of childhood dreams, I guess. Sydney was featured in the Disney movie ‘Nemo’, and because I was young, I really wanted to visit the city in which the main character ‘Nemo’ was captured in. Might be a little childish but I don’t really mind that. It brought me here, to new adventures, lifestyles, friends, languages, cultures and so on.
I love studying in general. I’ll be honest, I’m so scared of the thought that I’ll have to start a stable carrier soon. I did not know what to do in the past and I still don’t know what I want to do in the future. I mean, studying gives me a sense of freedom and I know what I will do tomorrow, studying obviously, because I want to pass my exams.
I love to listen to music. Mostly calm music without any big changes in volume, chords and so on. Or when I want something different, I listen to scary stories on YouTube. I don’t know why but it helps me study and stay calm and focused in general.
Iglu is such an amazing place. You feel that people actually care about and you can do so many things here. I have had the pleasure of meeting amazing people from different countries and cultures. You don’t even need to like socialising, you can be an introvert and spend most of your time in your room and still you are as important and valued as everyone else.
I don’t even know where I see myself tomorrow. Probably studying in my room with a cup of tea and scary stories. My life changes every day right now, so I cannot tell what I will be doing in 5 years. Hopefully I’ll have started my life in Canada, the country I plan to move to in a few years.
Be yourself. If you don’t like socialising, you don’t have to. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. Everyone is different and enjoys themselves in different ways. If you love events, join them. You will have a fun time, guaranteed. Every day is a new adventure, and you are the one who is taking the next step.
Master of Teaching (Birth to Five years)
I have a few relatives in Sydney and I did my Bachelor degree in Sydney so Sydney feels like a second home to me.
Being able to apply my knowledge and skills to my study and gaining more understanding towards my study major.
Watching movies and shows, window shopping and reading.
Iglu is a great living space for students as it provides multiple study spaces which is really important for students. Iglu also provide communal space which we can use to relax and play games. The gym is also available for students to exercise and most importantly, free of charge.
Working as an early childhood educator that give the best practices to young children.
Enjoy your time as a student because these moments don’t last forever.
Bachelor of Psychological Science
Melbourne is about 3 hours from where my family lives, it felt like the right choice so that I can go home of a weekend and see my friends and family and also have the opportunity to branch out.
The independence is a blessing and a curse and also the change of scenery.
Call home, watch Netflix and YouTube, go for walks and just enjoy alone/relaxing time.
How safe I feel living here, I like the fact that it is pretty difficult for outsiders to get in and the location is great in terms of transporting to university or into the CBD.
Either working in the psychology field or completing my masters.
Don’t feel to stressed about making friends and living with “strangers” because everyone is in the same boat, which actually makes it less stressful. Everyone including reception are so welcoming and no one makes you feel uncomfortable or out of place!
English
Australia has a lot of international students.
Student discount.
Work.
We can play pool, a lot of activities.
Australia or Japan.
There are many events, so it’s fun to participate.
Masters of Clinical Audiology
I was interested in the university and the student orientated environment of Melbourne.
I enjoy the student benefits that we get!
Netflix and games. I like to chill down in my spare time!
I see myself working hard practicing audiology. I also hope I am still pursuing my ideals of opening and running my own clinic!
The facilities are fantastic and I love the aesthetic. Also, the friendly staff are a great bonus.
It was offered to me as a great opportunity and I felt it is a great addition to my experiences.
Knowing the community within the building and also having other residents recognize you and say hi. It really brings the sense of home into the student lifestyle.
If there are things you gotta do, just do them!
Bachelor of Law & Communication (Journalism)
The universities in Brisbane offer so many unique courses that I wasn’t able to access in my home town. Brisbane has so many cool things to do, places to see and awesome people to meet too!
I love being able to learn completely new things, and challenge myself to do better every semester.
My favourite thing to do when I’m not studying is ride my bike around Brisbane city and explore the different views. My favourite so far has been from the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.
My favourite thing about Iglu is definitely meeting people at the weekly events – everyone is super friendly and they always go out of their way to make you feel included.
In 5 years I would have just finished studying, so hopefully in the workforce as a political journalist.
Get to know the people living in Iglu by attending the weekly activities! They’re so much fun and a great way to make new friends.
Masters of Communication Design
Friends and family have always talked about how Melbourne is such a lively and creative city! More than just a quality educational experience, I wanted to be able to explore a vibrant metro!
The best thing about studying design is that your work is informed by your life and I love that my master’s experience at RMIT has been flexible enough for me to explore and enjoy all the city has to offer!
If I’m not working on a design project, I like to keep active and try new things! I’ve been taking different classes like pilates, yoga, indoor cycling, climbing, or going to live jazz concerts, comedy shows and best of all, trying out all the different cuisines Melbourne has to offer!
Hopefully making a positive impact through design! I see myself working with and designing for small-medium ethical and sustainable brands, helping them not only develop their aesthetic vision but also design quality experiences.
I love that Iglu South Yarra is in such a prime location, with trains, trams, shops and cafes being just a stone’s throw away, everything feels so accessible! Also of course, the very friendly staff and RL’s!
One of my first flatmates was also an RL and told me all about it when I moved in! I loved that being an RL meant that I had the opportunity to make friends, plan fun events and build a warm community!
I’ve learned a lot from the residents and being an RL, I love that I’m able to connect with so many different people from all around the world and create fun experiences for everyone through Iglu events!
Join all the events, don’t be shy! You never know, you could be meeting your next best friend or you could learn something new, whatever event it is, it’s gonna be a good time!
Marketing
Because I like the weather here.
Because I have a friend who lives in Sydney, also my parents have some friends here.
I do not need to force myself to do anything, if something I do not like, I have a choice.
Doing Hot Yoga and reading books.
I have no plan yet. My goal now is getting my degree, then going back to China.
It feels home here, and the most thing I like about Iglu is because is very safe here.
Love life, and enjoy what you choose to do.
Audio Engineering
Away from home, big city living
Concession card
Making music
Convenience especially living in Chatswood
Possibly making music full time and having a studio
Love the study rooms! Make use of the facilities, you can find long term friendships !
Nursing
I chose to study in Sydney because of the Nursing program and facilities the University of Sydney had to offer.
Being able to learn what I love doing, meeting new people and just having fun.
Photography and video games.
Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Iglu Redfern is also in a great location, close to universities, train station, parks and Sydney CBD.
I see myself working as a neonatal nurse.
The event’s held by Iglu are a really good way to make friends and have a good time. Enjoy student life because it doesn’t last forever.
Film
Sydney is really the place to be for studying film because of industry opportunities… but honestly also just because its such a vibrant city, full of life and personality, and there’s inspiration everywhere and a place where creativity seems to thrive!
The flexibility of being able to have a life outside of school and work while also being intellectually stimulated everyday… but also for me, being able to study something I love, and being surrounded by people that are equally keen to make some movies!
Right now, exploring Sydney, but watching movies is also always a close second
Hopefully working in film *fingers crossed*
That the staff is so friendly and accommodating and genuinely trying to make sure you have a great experience here. It makes it feel like a safe, welcoming place to come home to at the end of the day when you’re far from home 🙂
I’m not really in any place to be giving anyone any advice, but something I’ve been learning over and over recently is that nothing, good or bad, lasts forever, so make the most of what you can and don’t lose hope for the future!
Bachelor of Arts – Film and Media
I was attracted towards life Down Under after a month-long vacation in March 2017. The quality of life seemed impeccable and the people were incredibly warm. I came back from that trip with enough dopamine in my nervous system to last me the entire year. But I really did miss being in Australia and instantly decided to go back for more once I had graduated from high school. Looking back, I thank my stars for that life-changing holiday.
While being one of the most liveable and student-friendly cities in the world, Melbourne also reminds me of my hometown in India. It’s miles outside my comfort zone but it still retains that warm touch of home. The massive sports and arts cultures of the city are also a huge bonus.
Definitely Concessions! Also, the wealth of time we think we possess.
Watching films (the good stuff), playing tennis, hiking across the state, exploring the foodie hotspots within and beyond the city, and clicking some weirdly abstract photographs.
Working in Melbourne’s creative industry and hugely missing my life at Iglu.
I had the good fortune of spending my first year at Iglu with some super amiable RLs. They made the normally terrifying process of adjusting to life away from home easier and less painful through their exciting events and fun interactions. Those memories inclined me to give back to the Iglu Community in my own distinct way. I wanted to be involved in creating comfortable and interesting experiences for new and upcoming residents while also being someone they can open up to and trust.
The role gives me the opportunity to interact with literally every single person staying in the building and the creative freedom to organise events at all scales.
The fact that it is a melting pot of students from all around the world. The experience of living in a student accommodation is simply incomparable.
1. Attend as many events as you can because you’d make some lifelong friends through your interactions within the building.
2. The role of the RL may seem daunting but it’s an experience of a lifetime. Super rewarding! Apply whenever you get the chance.
3. Stay ahead of the mess in your apartment. Stress levels go down dramatically when the surroundings look the way they should.
Screenwriting
Melbourne is such an artistic and lively city! There’s never a shortage of gigs, restaurants, bars, cafes, shows or op shops.
I love my course and exploring my passion for film and television. Also, student life is great for constantly meeting new people and exploring the city.
When I’m not studying, I love painting or going to galleries – & luckily the NGV and ACMI are super easy to get to. Also, with Chapel Street so close, it’s a great place to go op shopping.
The people! Iglu is a great place to make friends and the facilities like the terrace and the movie room are great places to hang out.
Still in Melbourne, because it’s such a great city!
Go to the events! Free food + friends!
Bachelor of Commerce
I chose to come to Australia to broaden my horizons and to try studying abroad. It is a good cultural experience! I choose Melbourne largely due to the reason of the ranking of the university.
My favourite thing about being a student is the fact that I have opportunities to engage with other fellow students. Students are all brilliant minds just waiting to interact and share. Hence, I feel like this opportunity to understand each other and engage with like-minded, similar age group people is invaluable and truly a good thing.
Hanging out with friends and checking out new cafes. Hitting the gym, or watching Netflix!
I see myself working towards a masters in Melbourne. I would like to stay in Melbourne and hopefully pursue a career here as I have grown to like this place very much.
I decided to become a Resident Leader to help students. To understand more about how I can extend my help to our fellow residents who may not be able to seek help directly from the management due to social anxieties. I would like to be their point of contact and their friend. In addition, I would like to further improve myself.
My favourite thing about being a resident leader is the bond with the residents. Having a good chat with any resident always makes things happier. In addition, being able to bring fun events for the residents and seeing their joy and delighted faces always warms my heart.
My favourite thing about Iglu is the vibes, ambience, the friends, the community and the management. The whole support system at Iglu is simply amazing and something that differentiates Iglu from other student accommodations.
Hmm, some words or wisdom would be, go to the events. It is always the best thing to do when you are free from school work. Iglu events are absolutely amazing and fun times.
Interior Architecture
I find Brisbane to be a more friendly city than Sydney or Melbourne. QUT offered the courses I wanted to do, plus had the added bonus of being only an hour from my home town so I can go visit my family on weekends.
Lots of student discounts, plus this is the time of my life that I get to make the best memories. Uni clubs and societies have made me lots of new friends and we’ve had some great nights together.
Explore new parts of Brisbane. I’ve lived here for 2 years and every time we go for an adventure we find something we’ve never seen before.
Finished my Masters, working in an architecture firm or even better, running my own.
I decided to become an RL because I have a passion for helping others. Being an RL has so many facets, but one of the most important parts of the role is looking after the residents, be it emotionally (by organising events to improve moral or talking about problems they may have) or physically (by providing First Aid when needed).
I love organising creative events and seeing everyone’s talents, plus decorating for different holidays and occasions.
I love the atmosphere here. Iglu Kelvin Grove has a great community spirit and all the residents are great at participating. The new rivalry between the East and West towers has shown how much creativity and passion the residents have.
Uni is one of the best times of your life. Work hard on your studies, but make sure you take some time off to experience being young.
Masters of Marketing
I firmly believe in acquiring international exposure to succeed in ever changing dynamics of the modern day globalisation of markets. This belief has been strengthened further with my experience of my bachelor’s program in the UK.
I always believed that staying in the same place doesn’t help me to learn new things and grow. Coming back from London, I found Melbourne to be the correct choice for me as the place is more peaceful compared to London, which is always bustling. I also like the vibe in Melbourne.
Being a student you will be eligible for many discounts. You also have time to explore your city and different cuisines of food with your friends.
I like playing violin, writing poetry, drawing, watching movies and playing video games with friends.
I see myself as an entrepreneur. I would like to see myself as one of the under 30 social entrepreneurs in Forbes. I would like to make a difference and impact in this world.
The staff at Iglu are very helpful. Staying at Iglu and attending the events here has given me the opportunity to meet new people from different countries and make new friends.
Always be compassionate and kind towards others. Practice gratitude and always believe that the best is yet to come. Think positive and aim higher.
Health Information Management
Australia is an amazing country for students to come and study at as there are a lot of activities to do outside of studying. In addition, the University facilities are absolutely amazing.
I was looking to study in a city that had a lot fun activities to do outside of studying with decent cost of living. And Brisbane is one of the only cities that provide the two in Australia as it is cheaper that Sydney and Melbourne.
The fact that I have so much free time to travel and visit different parts of Queensland on weekends.
Play soccer and hang out with friends.
It’s so easy to socialise and meet new people.
I see myself working in a hospital as a health information manager.
Everyone is more shy than you. So don’t be afraid to approach anyone and strike up a conversation!
Masters of Speech Pathology
After completing my undergrad in UK, I was looking for a change in environment and culture. Australia seemed like the place to be! It is also closer to my home country compared to UK or US so it’s nice to be able to travel home more frequently.
I was tempted by the world-class Masters program offered in UniMelb and also the diverse food scene in Melbourne – the food definitely did not disappoint!
I like the flexibility I have in my schedule at the moment. I like being able to organise my own time and not be tied down to a 9-5 routine.
I enjoy binge watching Netflix as well as trying out new cafes or restaurants around me (and there are definitely many options to choose from around Iglu!)
I like the wide range of amenities as well as events available – Iglu has certainly considered the essential aspects that contribute to an enjoyable and memorable student living experience.
I was active in Iglu events prior to becoming and RL and was interested in planning and running some of these events myself!
I love being able to interact with residents who come from different countries with different backgrounds. I like planning events where we all can come together and learn more about each other’s culture.
I see myself working in Australia (possibly Melbourne/Sydney) as a practicing speech pathologist working with children (hopefully!)
Just enjoy yourself as much as possible (without neglecting academic responsibilities) because if not now then when?!
Also, definitely apply for the RL position because it’s so much fun and would look great on your CV 😉
Bachelor of Laws/Creative Industries
I chose to study something a little unconventional and QUT was one of the few universities in Australia to offer my degree. I have always had a soft spot for Brisbane, it feels like a big country town at heart.
My favorite thing about being a student is to have the opportunity to learn about new things and develop skills that will be useful down the road.
I love exploring Brisbane and finding hidden treasures in the surrounding suburbs. Other good pastimes are hanging out with friends, dancing and drinking all the coffee I can stomach.
There is a strong sense of community at Iglu. As you walk past reception every day, attend events or even just do your laundry (after enough procrastination) there is always a friendly face to greet you.
It’s hard to say with certainty. After graduation, I am looking to work within a law firm and decide on my area of specialisation within fashion law. I think intellectual property or environmental law could be really interesting!
Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself and get involved in activities outside of uni. This time is where you meet new people, work out what is important to you and create lasting stories to share.
Bachelor of Architecture and Design
I felt like Australia had all the attributes i needed to thrive. It seemed like a great place for me to begin my independent life. The community also seemed very multicultural and welcoming. Along with great education, I wanted to live in a place where I felt accepted and comfortable. Australia seemed to tick both those boxes with ease and turned out to be a great choice.
I reviewed all the cities and felt Brisbane was best for me mainly because of its friendly aura. It was still a developing city with much progress ahead of it and this appealed to me as I wanted to be in a place that was still growing. I felt like I would then have more freedom of expression as I would have been surrounded with people just like me. Brisbane also had a lot of Muslims, which helped me stay true to my faith even if i was so many miles away from home.
The majority of the things are very accessible for students, we have discounts and sometimes there are lot of things that you can do and enjoy for free. Everything is relatively close so I can walk everywhere or I can use the free shuttle bus of QUT or some free buses around the city.
Getting competitive. This could be through a fun game of ping pong, an online e-game with friends or a football / cricket match. Its a great way to take a break from academic stress and also get some healthy exercise.
The environment really. No matter how different you are, there will always be a group of people that you can fit into. I can message my friends at Iglu anytime and there is always something going on that I can join. I can go downstairs to study and meet various people that are fun to chat with. Maybe even have dinner together or watch a movie later on in the day. It feels like I can always keep myself occupied and I find that very satisfying.
Working on a stable job, still perusing my hobbies and enjoying my life. I don’t like to plan any more specifically than that because I realize I’m still finding my best path in life. I want to be open to all opportunities and see where each takes me. The priority for me would be to keep dreaming really. In 5 years I still want to be as adventurous as I was at 12 years old.
Just put yourself out there. Socializing can be a daunting thing especially when you’re in a foreign country so far from home. You don’t know anyone and you’re naturally afraid of speaking to others. Although that is completely understandable, raising that first hello can go such a long way. You can make friends that could be with you for the next 5-6 years of your life. The moment you find a chance, just express yourself. Let everyone know who you are and naturally you’ll find the people most similar to you. After that, have a blast. Student life only comes around so many times so you might as well make the most of it.
Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film Screen and New Media)
I decided to study in Australia because of its high-quality education and because is a multicultural country. Additionally, Australia has a lot of opportunities as well as benefits for international students.
I chose to study in Brisbane because is a relaxing city, the weather is amazing (particularly I love hot weather) and it has lots of aesthetics landscapes (beautiful places). In addition, my decision was influenced also because of the University (QUT)
Most students do not like being students 😛 but I’ve always enjoyed being associated with an educational set up/ environment, may be because of the deep involvement of the women around me (my mama and nani) with the education sector. No matter what marks I got, I have all enjoyed the process of gaining knowledge on subjects I was passionate about. Moreover, I just wasn’t limited to studies during my school and university…Besides studies, I was deeply involved in art and craft as a child. I was interested to learn Indian classical dance forms as I grew up so I learnt Bharatnatyam for 4 years. Being very fond of the stage during my high school I always took part in elocutions, moots and debates, I was also chosen as the school house caption in my 11th grade/year because of my leadership skills.
I love to work out and go for a run (I love the view) and I like to hang out with my friends and meet new people.
Iglu for me is the best student accommodation. It is hard just to choose one thing because all the amazing things that Iglu has make them a great place to stay while you are studying. However, if I have to choose just one I will say that Iglu makes you feel as if you were at home! The apartments are really comfortable, the facilities like the common areas, the gym, the study rooms are really nice and convenient, the events, etc, but more importantly, the staff of Iglu are really amazing people with a good service quality and they make you feel as a part of a family!
I see my self in 5 years as a filmmaker working in entertainment and media industry in Australia.
Remember to see the bright side of the things and whatever you are doing do it with passion and make it worth it.
Master of Business Administration
I love to travel for study because every place has something unique to offer and Australia was next on my list.
Sydney is so diverse it’s like a world within a city.
My favourite thing about being a student is how you have the ability to hone in on your chosen area of study and meeting like-minded people who are just as passionate about what you are studying as you are. Also, you can’t go wrong with student discounts.
Writing poetry and exploring the city.
The community and the vibe, it’s cool and I get to socialize. I’ve made some amazing friends here and also, explored most of Sydney for free! Courtesy of Iglu organised events.
In five years I see myself working towards empowering underprivileged girls in India through education and art.
Enjoy and socialize while you are here.
Bachelor of Fine Arts – Music
When I migrated to Brisbane in 2014 with my family, we decided to stay in Brisbane. I was in Year 10 when we moved and by the time I graduated high school I already had a few great industry connections in Brisbane. I really enjoy the living and music scene in the city. Brisbane has a lot of hidden gems within itself, it is also a city where everything is in close proximity to each other. There is a lot of art, cultural events and great musicians in this city. It is still growing, but the city has definitely made a name for itself and it’s strong identity in Australia.
My favourite things to do when not studying would be playing guitar, making music, listening to music (live music and gigs included), teach marching drums, hanging out with friends and just taking it easy and giving time for my mind and body to rest. It’s important to stop and take a look around every once in a while, cause life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and take a look around every once in a while, you could miss it.
My favourite thing about Iglu is the strong sense of community around the building. Everyone is polite and waves when they walk past each other, there are a lot of fun events to take part in throughout the year such as Karaoke, Cooking Classes, and Trivia Nights, just to name a few.
In 5 years I see myself as a music educator, drumline director and performing musician. To achieve those goals I will have to continue teaching marching drums and form a drumline of my own, either freelance or within a school to create a community of dedicated and interested musicians. In regard to performing, I will have to continue making music in my band and with anyone who is interested in making music and wanting to make a name for themselves in the music industry.
Don’t take yourself so seriously, it’s okay to have fun!
Bachelor of Arts
It’s multicultural, has great weather (compared to Singapore) and it’s not too far from my home country.
Melbourne is one of the most livable cities in the world and I love the culture here!
Student life is great because we can learn our passions and at the same time travel a lot and have many adventures! I also love making new friends.
Eating and Shopping
I love Iglu’s events and community as everyone is so fun and friendly. Iglu just feels like one big family
I want to work in the Disney company doing communications
Come for all the events! you’ll make some best friends for life.
Bachelor of Business
I am from a small town so I’ve always wanted to move away to a big city, Brisbane is perfect as it is still close to home.
My favourite thing about being a student is the different lifestyle. You have more independence both inside and out of uni, and attending uni in the city there is always something to do when you’re not studying.
When I’m not studying I love going into the city, finding new places to eat, things to do and of course shopping. I also enjoy quiet days at home watching Netflix or just hanging out with my roommates.
My favourite thing about Iglu is the people, I have made some of my best friends through Iglu. Whether you’re having a good, bad or somewhere in between day there is always someone around that you can talk to or hang out with.
I’m not sure but I hope that whatever it is, I am happy, healthy and enjoying life.
Don’t be shy, talk to people! Easier said then done I know, but start by attending the events there are always plenty of different people to talk to. Also don’t hide away in your room talk to your roommates, you never know they might end up becoming your best friends.
Bachelor of Commerce
Australia is a culturally diverse society, I wish to feel welcomed and to get along with people from around the world. I want to study at a place where I can improve my oral English as well:)
Usyd is one of the most well known university among international students in Asia; mostly influenced by my aunt as well because she used to be a student of Usyd.
I can enjoy student life with my friends/ classmates, i.e. hanging out, join society events, work on projects together. I don’t think i’ll be able to experience that once I start working.
I’m a very playful person, so I enjoy doing a wide range of activities when I’m not studying. I sometimes paint at my room; I also love to swim and cycling; and since winter is coming, I enjoy ice skating.
Iglu provides a great environment for me to meet friends of different cultural background and characters.
Either working as an accountant somewhere in Australia or maybe a teacher, or perhaps I’ll still be working at Iglu helping more residents!
Change always happens, learn to roll with it, laugh a lot and have fun as you are never alone.
Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology)
To go to university there was no doubt that I would have to travel. I chose to study in Brisbane because it was closer than other options I had (ie – Townsville and Cairns). I also was attracted by the university (QUT) and what they had to offer.
My favourite thing about being a student is learning new things and progressing towards my chosen career path. It is really interesting and you get some fantastic opportunities.
One of my favourite things to do when I’m not studying is to hang out with my friends. They always make me laugh and get me out of the apartment when I’ve been studying too much.
My favourite thing about Iglu is the amazing community and welcoming atmosphere. It is really a special place to live and certainly feels like a home away from home.
In five years I see myself probably still at university as my dual degree is quite long. However, I would like to have a position in the legal field and started prepping for my graduation.
My words of wisdom to future Iglu residents is don’t be afraid to chat to your RL’s! We love to chat and if you have an idea for an event or activity that you think would be awesome don’t hesitate to tell us. We enjoy hearing feedback and what the residents think we should do next.
Master of Commerce
I wanted to experience different kinds of culture.
Sydney is one of Australia’s largest cities and the city is really beautiful.
Winter and summer break.
Visiting different kinds of markets.
The convenience of travelling and living.
Working in a job in the field I’m passionate about in Sydney.
Step outside the comfort zone and leave no regrets.
Bachelor of Commerce
Was relatively close to Newcastle compared to other cities
Meeting new people at uni and learning subjects which actually count for something
Gym and hanging out, talking with friends
The convenience to university and everything else
Hopefully working in a job that relates to my degree!
Go to events if you want to meet people.
Bachelor of Accounting
I wanted to learn to become more independent, social, and meet new friends from different backgrounds. Australia also offers a diverse culture and a high quality of education.
Sydney has a multicultural society which I was able to adapt to easily. There are also many diverse festivals and events to experience, breathtaking landscapes, amazing beaches and beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Being able to learn and improve myself and my knowledge, exploring new places at any time, making new friends from both inside and outside my university and Iglu.
Watching movies or TV dramas, chilling out and walking along the beach taking in the beautiful view and the fresh air, saying “how wonderful the day is!”, having tea or hanging out with friends, shopping, sleeping, and sometimes a bit of exercise!
Having friendly helpful people and staff always around.
Either working as an accountant somewhere in Australia or maybe a teacher, or perhaps I’ll still be working at Iglu helping more residents!
Change always happens, learn to roll with it, laugh a lot and have fun as you are never alone.
Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Journalism
I decided to study in Brisbane as it provided me with a lot more opportunities for my studies, internships and other extra curricular activities. I also wanted to move away from home and learn to live independently and among other students.
I love being a student as it gives me an amazing opportunity to meet people with similar interests and make new friends.
My favourite thing to do when I’m not studying is chilling out with my roommates, going to the beach, and finding the next music festival to go to.
My favourite thing about Iglu is that you are living with a bunch of students that come from so many different parts of the world and have their own cultures and experiences that they can share with you and that you can learn from. I also love how close everyone is at Iglu which has helped me gain life long friendships and so many amazing memories. The location of Iglu is in the heart of the city and only a couple of blocks away from the university which is another thing that I love.
In five years I hope to have a full time job in either marketing or journalism that allows me to travel all over the world.
I would let future residents know that they are not alone when they are moving and settling in. For many students when they move in they do not know any one else in Brisbane and this can be super daunting and scary. However, I want future Iglu residents to know it won’t take long to meet new people and form amazing life long friendships, which I have done during my stay at Iglu.
Bachelor of Commerce
I chose Australia as I wanted to be outside my comfort zone, but at the same time be near home.
It is a very diverse city and has an excellent range of food options, since I love food!
As a student, I’m able to grab opportunities and experiences that I would not be able to get anywhere else.
I love to be with my friends from Iglu and from uni; we eat out, watch movies, and do grocery shopping together.
The friendliness of the staff, feeling of home, and the number of facilities that are available.
I see myself in a stable job and looking back to the happy experiences and memories I have had during my uni days.
If you don’t take risks, then you might regret it later on.
Master of Strategic Supply Chain Management
I chose Australia because of the diversity of the people, culture, and the location of the country. Australia also has been one of my parents’ favourite places to visit and stay, so studying in Sydney means my parents can spend their holidays here during my education, fulfilling something that they love in return.
Besides having a close friend who lives in Sydney, I also wanted to come here for the food, beaches and other attractions.
I like learning new things and challenging myself, being a student allows me to do these things. I also enjoy being able to utilise all the resources provided by the university without paying extra fees, including journals, software, and other academic database, as well as having the opportunity to discuss my studies and the related topics directly with my lecturers.
Traveling to Sydney’s many different beaches and doing coastal walks. I also enjoy exploring different food and places around the city.
I like the different events that Iglu held every month, and I like the diversity of Iglu as I can learn new different things from the residents. I also appreciate the Iglu staff and how they care for the residents.
In 5 years time, I would like to run my own business. I like the idea of franchising but I also want to start a business from scratch using my own creativity.
Iglu is like a home where you can always enjoy yourself.
Bachelor of Commerce
I wanted to challenge myself and finish my tertiary degree at one of the world’s top 50 universities. Sydney is the most developed and metropolitan city in Australia.
It was an easy choice once I was accepted into the University of Sydney.
It is all about learning how to be what I want to be in next 10 years. Being student is a pathway to reach my future vision. Furthermore, not only studying at university, it is also about learning how to socialise in different cultures and norms. These facets of being student are absolutely my favourite things.
Hanging out with my friends.
Meeting new people in a diverse environment.
I’ll be in Tokyo running a business as a young entrepreneur.
Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.
Bachelor of Health Sciences
I chose to study in sunny Brisbane because it was relatively close to home, and because I had always wanted to go to UQ. I love its campus, and it’s an added bonus that many of my friends study in Brisbane.
I love being a student as I love learning. I love being able to correctly name all 206 bones in the body, and to be able to look at the world with new perspectives. In many cases, the things I learn are largely applicable in real life.
When I’m not studying, I love unwinding with a good book or Netflix TV show, or attempting to cook something fancy. Other than that, I love exploring the beautiful city I call home.
My favourite thing about Iglu is that it’s a fantastic place not only to study but to grow, as well as to make friends. I love that every person in this building is supported not only by staff, but through the after-hours support system with the RLs. Iglu is right in the heart of the city, meaning that it’s easy to get places, and easy to find public transport.
In 5 years I would have just graduated med school, and would soon begin my residency and training to become an ER doctor. I will probably still be living at Iglu!
Embrace every opportunity you get with an open mind and open heart.
Or, my personal favourite:
1. Sleep more than you study.
2. Study more than you party.
3. Party as much as you possibly can.
Commerce
Because it’s a country with really good education and an amazing lifestyle!
Sydney had the university that I wanted to attend, and it has wonderful beaches and so many things to do.
Being able to meet so many people and having fun and learning about life.
Playing football and rock climbing.
Iglu has a great environment where is easy to meet people, you live in a great location with great rooms, and everything is super convenient.
I see myself working in something related to finance and enjoying life.
Go to the events! Talk to anyone you see! The worst thing that can happen is that you won’t end up clicking with that person, but the best thing is that you could actually end up close friends.
Bachelor of Creative Industries
Australia is a popular destination for international students in my country to continue their further studies. Australia is also at the forefront of new technology and innovation, which was a big motivator for me.
Enjoying all the student discounts 🙂
Travelling with my camera.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff.
Never, ever underestimate the importance of having fun.
Nursing
I chose Australia because I saw it as a country that is immigrant-friendly, indigenous people-friendly and proactive about preserving it’s original lands. That progressive approach, plus the prosperous future of Australia’s economy and various industries made me want to live here.
Brisbane is one of the leading cities in Australia. I felt that Sydney is already over-saturated with people and job opportunities, in contrast, I’ve found Brisbane to be competitive yet opportunistic for furthering my education and career.
I love that I have unlimited access to academic sources and that I can ask reasonable and constructive questions without worrying about being judged. I can still progress within my field, learning through trials and mistakes without being pulled down or held back.
I like walking around the park to take in the scenery and have lunch. I also like socialising with my friends at the many outdoor cafes and bars around Brisbane. I love exploring South Bank and riding the Wheel of Brisbane at night to observe the contrasting views of the working city and quiet suburbs. I also like to stay in – cooking food and watching scary movies!
I believe Iglu is more than just accommodation, it is a small community where managers and staff remember and care for residents – who they are, what they study, and what they are interested in.
In 5 years I’ll have graduated from QUT and I’ll be working in ICU as a registered nurse at Royal Brisbane Women Hospital, I’ll also be attending QUT for my master of anaesthetic nursing degree.
Value every relationship you build in every community you engage in. Do not be afraid to give and share; do not be afraid to be hurt or to be rejected – give your best.
Bachelor of Information Technology
I felt there were better education and future job opportunities in Sydney compared to Newcastle.
Improving myself and sharing experiences with fellow students.
Napping! And having a few drinks with mates while relaxing with some games or a movie.
The community is very friendly and inviting especially with fun social events such as bubble soccer or zoo trips.
I’ll have graduated my degree and be working as a Systems Designer or Project Manager.
Go to events and put yourself out there. I had basically no solid group of friends when I first arrived in Sydney, but after attending events I’ve made great friendships with people I hang out with nearly every day at Iglu.
Computer Science and Project Management
I chose Australia for the high-quality education it provides, it’s diversity and vibrant culture, and of course, for koalas, kangaroos, Tim Tams, and for all those pretty beaches!
Sydney is one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world! It has got absolutely everything! From the iconic Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the vivid city life, to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches and great weather. Oh! And, Iglu is close to EVERYTHING!
As students we have lots of time and heaps of opportunities, on and off campus, that can help us to get out of our comfort zone to explore and experience different things in life. I also really find networking events very useful and interesting. Don’t forget the free stuff on campus and student discounts everywhere!
In my free time, I go around exploring new places, trying different restaurants, experiencing new things, hanging out with friends, or the good old Netflix and chill!
My favourite thing is proximity. It’s literally close to EVERYTHING! Besides that, I love meeting new people and the staff are very friendly. I’ve lived here for over a year and made some really good friends from all over the world.
I want to be working for a big investment bank.
I would definitely recommend you to come to the events. They’re a great way to make new friends and bond with fellow residents. You might even find your soul mate. You never know! There’s free food, discounts to the fun stuff that’s happening in Sydney and lots more!
Bachelor of Business/Journalism.
Brisbane is home sweet home!
When I’m not studying you’ll find me unleashing my inner warrior at the boxing studio down the road. It’s the best way to release any stress especially around exams and keeps you active. If I’m not there, you’ll find me hanging with my friends exploring the city and Southbank usually (always) getting food.
This question is always so tricky! I’d like to be working in my own startup company after gaining experience at some big companies to get my feet off the ground into the business world.
Being a student is great because you get to meet new people every semester. Celebrating the end of exams is so much more fun when you’re surrounded by people who have gone through the same journey. While the late nights of study are often daunting, getting great results gives you a sense of achievement like no other.
The best part about Iglu is the opportunity to meet new people every day. I also think it serves as a great stepping stone for moving out of home as you have support from staff and other people in the building who are in the same boat as you when it comes to learning how to cook and do laundry. When I first moved out of home, I had no clue how to do either of these things, people still question my cooking skills but I definitely think I’ve nailed the laundry aspect.

Bachelor of Business
I chose to study in Australia due to it’s cultural diversity and the global recognition of the Australian education system. Also, living expenses and tuition fees are considerably lower in Australia compared to the US or the UK.
I chose to study in Brisbane because it is close to major tourist destinations such as the Gold Coast. Also, it is more affordable to live in Brisbane compared to other Australian capital cities.
My favourite thing to do when I’m not studying would be exploring different areas of the city and take pictures. If the weather isn’t ideal, I would stay indoors in Iglu – listening to slow music and reading web articles or watching Netflix.
In 5 years, I see myself in Bali managing my own succesful and exclusive beach club and having the time of my life.
As a student, I’ve been given the opportunity to test myself and the world as well. I’m allowed to explore various areas of interest and express my creativity in different ways. I’m allowed to meet new people and embrace new cultures. I’m allowed to make mistakes as long as I correct them. Lastly, I’m allowed to establish and solidify my own opinions and stand firmly for them; I’ve gained independence and will continously seek change in the world around me for the betterment.
Iglu provides a meaningful lifestyle that encompasses students from different backgrounds with different dreams who have countless stories to tell. Iglu provides socialisation with students like no other; I became friends with individuals from a variety of places and never have to worry about boredom from being alone.
Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey
Civil Engineering with International Studies
As much as I love the UK, the weather can be a bit depressing, so the prospect of a year in Australia was very inciting! I also come from a small town which is very green and flat, so I wanted a change of scenery. With all of the skyscrapers, beaches, rain-forests and oceans, Australia is a great place to live in. The educational system here is brilliant and the lifestyle is even better, people work really hard but also have a lot of fun too!
I really liked the idea of studying in Melbourne because it is so diverse, there are people from all over the world and there are a lot of students. Wherever you are from you can always find someone from home and probably even a restaurant which sells familiar food. The people here are very welcoming and interested to make friends and learn about other cultures. And the city itself is great for coffee, artwork and very hip markets. It may not be the warmest Australian city but the warmth of the people make up for it!
I really love to draw architectural sketches, so I often grab a coffee and sit and draw in the city for a few hours. I sometimes listen to music or other times just listen to the sound of the trams, people and street performers. It really allows me to be in the moment and appreciate my surroundings. It makes me smile to look back at my drawings and I like to send them back to my family and friends as a snapshot of my life in Melbourne.
I love being in the city and I as a Civil Engineer I would love to work on designing and constructing a high rise building. It is amazing how skyscrapers can go up in a few years and I would love to be part of the huge team who makes that happen. It would be so satisfying to walk down the street and think ‘I helped to build that’.
I really like the flexibility of being a student, as you can work when is best for you. This gives me free time to do things I enjoy and also work as a Resident Leader at Iglu. I love meeting other students so this is an ideal job for me, as it is very social.
The buildings and facilities are amazing, but I think the best thing has to be the people. Every time I walk into the accommodation, some one says ‘hello’ at the mail desk, and I often see friends hanging about together in the social areas. Also I love living in a shared apartment, my flatmates are from all over the world and are always sharing food and teaching each other new things. I always feel at home when I am at Iglu.
Finance
Australia is peaceful and multi- cultural, I love the fresh air and slow life style.
Sydney has the world famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge, and Sydney is also a comprehensive city, I can find the sense of belonging here.
I have a part-time job in cafe and I like working there. Besides I like hanging out with my friends and finding some interesting cafe and restaurant. I’m also a big LEGO fan, I like building LEGOs and I have lots of LEGO collections in my room.
I’m going to graduate this year, after I graduated, I’m planing to continue staying in Sydney and find a finance related job. In 5 years, I want to have my own YOUTUBE channel.
Being a student can have more time to manage by yourself.
As an international student, Iglu gives me the sense of safety and belonging. I love the various events Iglu held in every month, I can make lots of new friends and learn new things.
Physiotherapy
I chose to study in Australia because I fell in love with this country when I came to visit for a holiday when I was 8. I remember telling my parents how I would definitely want to come back in the future. 10 years later, here I am studying in Australia. The weather here is amazing and not forgetting the clear and blue skies. AND THE BEACH OH MY
I chose Sydney as my mom worked here for about 3 years when she was 25 and she said that she really enjoyed herself here and made many good friends. I also have relatives that are currently living in Sydney as well.
Sleeping, hanging out with friends, watching shows/movies and SHOPPING
A successful physiotherapist that is able to hep as many people as I can and a volunteer to help people in less developed countries.
Being a student, we have a lot of time that we can decide what to do with it and also we only have one main responsibility which is just to study.
Super friendly and always willingly to help staff
USYD Foundation Program
I wanted to study my bachelor in an English spoken country and Australia was the best option for me, weather, tuition fees, and distance.
I wanted to go to Perth because my cousin is living there, but to go to USyd, I had to stay in Sydney.
I don’t know, maybe listening to music or hanging out with my friends? Shopping..?
I’m not sure, I’ll be either studying masters here or in military service in Korea.
The favourite thing about being a student for me is having a lot of opportunity of meeting another students from different countries. Especially Sydney is a multi-cultural society, its easy to find foreigners.
Cleanness, safety, well organised, close to school, etc
