About QUT University

Approved for university status in 1989, Queensland University of Technology prides itself on being a university for the real world. Right from the outset QUT has pushed the boundaries of learning, through innovation, exploration and discovery. With closely forged industry links adding practical perspectives to theoretical learnings, this University of Tech has a grounded approach to education that is committed to providing learning experiences that relate to real world outcomes. Whether it’s producing robots patrolling the Great Barrier Reef, or designing scientific probes destined for Mars, QUT is a collaborative and ambitious institution that seeks to arm students with all the knowledge they will ever need to succeed in a challenging world. Originally a School of Arts, QUT now strongly advocates for STEM strategies and ensures that these opportunities are available to all. Ranked as the top Australian University under 50 by the Times Higher Education, the university successfully integrates schools of knowledge, with a strong focus on technology, innovation and trans-disciplinary research.

The facilities

Situated across two different locations, Gardens Point campus is right in the heart of the city and offers multiple disciplines from Business Design and Engineering to Law, Maths and Science. STEM courses have been reinvigorated across the entire university, encouraging graduates to lead progress and change through thought innovation and sustainability. QUT’s world class Science and Engineering Centre is a great example of how the progressive use of space can maximise learning outcomes. Home to The Cube – 48 touch panels of high definition screens that is also open to the public – this is the world’s largest interactive learning and display space where researchers can analyse and collaborate on complex systems and data. Just across the city centre, and QUT’s Kelvin Grove location is the main hub for Creative Industry, Education and Health. This unique environment was specifically designed to promote collaboration and connection across the disciplines. All QUT courses are built around practical experience and hands-on learning which gives students the confidence to succeed in the real world. Work experience is integrated into the curriculum which then allows students to successfully forge and reinforce connections with industry leaders.
