Hi Swan! What are you studying?
Master of Design
-
Why did you choose to study in Australia?
I chose Australia because it has a great education system, a diverse culture, and strong opportunities in design. I also wanted to experience living in a new environment and gain a different perspective on my field.
-
Why did you choose to study in Sydney?
I wanted to be in a big, diverse city with lots of creative inspiration, and Sydney has that mix of culture, nature, and innovation.
-
Why did you choose to live at Iglu?
Iglu offers a great balance of convenience, community, and independence, which was exactly what I was looking for.
-
What is your favourite thing about being a student?
I love the freedom to explore different interests and learn new things without feeling stuck in a routine.
-
What is your favourite thing to do when you are not studying?
When I’m not studying, I like to take road trips, cook, and just enjoy some downtime away from screens.
-
So you’re a Resident Leader. What’s your favourite thing about being an RL?
Being an RL gives me the opportunity to connect with more people and organise events that bring everyone together. It also allows me to develop leadership and problem-solving skills while having fun and building a strong sense of community.
-
What’s your go-to spot for studying or relaxing at Iglu?
I love the Level 7 Rooftop Terrace at Iglu Mascot! It’s great for watching the planes fly by, and the plants create a nice backdrop that’s perfect for studying.
-
What is your favourite thing about Iglu?
There are so many great things about Iglu, but if I had to pick, I love the biophilic design with lots of natural light and greenery, both inside and outside the building.
-
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years, I see myself in a career that combines my design skills and leadership abilities.
-
What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?
Embrace the community and make the most of the opportunities to connect with others. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, whether it’s joining events or learning something new. The experiences and relationships you build here will be just as valuable as what you learn in your studies.
