Why did you choose to study in Melbourne?
As someone from a regional area I had always dreamed of moving to the city to pursue my studies and Melbourne truly has it all. There is never a shortage of activities and experiences to immerse yourself in.
-
Why did you choose to live at Iglu?
A big reason I picked Iglu was because of the regional scholarship they offer. This was a big aid in helping me move away from home. I also immediately loved the atmosphere after being taken on a tour of the property. I knew this was a place I would be able to call home and the lovely staff were so friendly and knowledgeable.

What is your favourite thing about being a student?
Being a student is great. I love being able to meet new people from all over the world as I learn and study whilst soaking in all that the city has to offer.
-
What is your favourite thing to do when you are not studying?
I love socialising with the friends I have made in the building. We always love to go out and experience something new in Melbourne, whether it’s walking through the gardens, trying a new restaurant or playing pool. I love to immerse myself in the Iglu community.

As an Iglu Regional Scholarship recipient, how did the scholarship help you?
The regional scholarship allowed me to have the opportunity to move to Melbourne. As a student who is also managing work it was great to know some of the financial stress had been alleviated.

So you’re a Resident Leader. What’s your favourite thing about being an RL?
My favourite thing about being a resident leader is getting to further contribute to the Iglu community. I love getting to meet new residents and help people feel as comfortable as possible when they first move in. Getting to run events is also an incredibly fun part of the job. I get to enjoy all that Iglu has to offer plus help make it even more enjoyable for others!

What’s your go-to spot for studying or relaxing at Iglu?
My go-to study spot is definitely the individual study rooms on each floor, this spot is where I am my most productive as it provides a slightly smaller less busy area to really lock in. I love also getting to meet other people on my floor here.
-
What is your favourite thing about Iglu?
My favorite thing about Iglu is definitely the people! From our warm staff members who make every resident feel valued, to the wonderful residents that make our community special. Iglu has so much to offer. Plus did I mention that the cool start breakfasts are delicious and the events are so much fun.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years time I hope to be working as a qualified Occupational Therapist, I’m not sure where yet but hopefully making a positive impact!

What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?
Make the most of your time at Iglu and your time studying in general because it goes by so fast. Immerse yourself in the community, participate in as many events as you can and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, it may be overwhelming at first but you will make lifelong friends.
