The Iglu Guide | Blog

Caitlin M.

  • Hi Caitlin! What are you studying?

    Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance)

  • Why did you choose to study in Brisbane?

I chose to move because the course I’m studying now is not offered where I used to live. I decided to move to Brisbane because it seemed less intimidating as the bigger cities like Melbourne or Sydney and the weather suited my way of life better.

  • Why did you choose to live at Iglu?

I chose to live at Iglu because of its proximity to university and also seeing all the fun extras like breakfast and events that they offered compared to just renting.

  • What is your favourite thing about being a student?

My favourite thing is the clubs and activities that happen around campus, there’s such a variety of things to do.

  • What is your favourite thing to do when you are not studying?

I love crocheting and drawing especially when I get to go sit at the park while doing them.

  • What’s your go-to spot for studying or relaxing at Iglu?

When it comes to getting an assignment done I sit in the east common room as there’s usually other people around because for me the body doubling helps keep me on track.

  • What is your favourite thing about Iglu?

I love going to all the different events, they’re such a great way of experience new and cool things while also getting to hangout with people.

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I see myself as a choreographer on the journey of creating my own dance company. Possibly travelling between Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, getting the opportunity to just immerse myself in the creative industry.

  • What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?

Interact and hangout with people, don’t just stay in your room because all of my best experiences have come from hanging out with friends.
