    Masters of Speech Pathology

  • Why did you choose to live in Melbourne?

Melbourne is such a lively city where there is always something to do! I’m lucky to have friends and family here which made settling in very welcoming. From the nightlife, the food culture, nature spots, live music and the art scene, I don’t think you could ever get bored in Melbourne.

  • Why did you choose to live at Iglu?

South Yarra is such a great locations with lots of public transport. It’s a really great place if it’s your first time living independently. There is a lot of support thanks to the front desk team and plenty of amenities that make this a really comfortable place to live, especially as a university students (study rooms with whiteboards are a lifesaver during exam season!) and of the community events make it a lot easier to meet new people!

  • What is your favourite thing about being a student?

Taking advantage of the free time we have between classes and student life as an opportunity to meet new people and learn from different perspectives!

  • What is your favourite thing to do when you are not studying?

I love my crafty hobbies so I will spend a lot of time scrapbooking, burning CDs, mixed media art and trying my hand at any crafts that catch my interest! I love exploring new Melbourne city suburbs by visiting their op shops/thrift shops as well as, visiting regional areas for hiking or road trips!

  • How did the Iglu Regional Scholarship help you?

I was previously on the Iglu Regional Scholarship (in my first year) and it made settling into living independently more accessible and supporting my adjustment towards university life.

  • What is your favourite thing about being a Resident Leader (RL)?

Handling casual work as a student can be difficult given our busy schedules but being an RL is super convenient and fun since it’s in my building and I’m part of a supportive workplace! It’s great opportunity to connect with residents and share my interests/culture with others!

  • What’s your go-to spot for studying or relaxing at Iglu?

I really enjoy studying in the common areas especially during exam season, it’s great to be around other people! The level one terrace is a great place to get fresh air when studying and I love using the whiteboards in the study rooms. For relaxing, the media room is a fun place to take time away from study and even do a bit of gaming (we have a switch and a PS5!) or just chatting on the comfy couches between table tennis matches!

  • Describe your favourite thing about Iglu?

Living at Iglu really eases the transition that is starting university. Community events and communal areas make engaging with other residents a lot easier, setting a foundation for meeting new people!

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Hopefully working as a speech pathologist!

  • What words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?

Take advantage of all the amenities and the events! Free coffee and breakfast, 24/7 gym access, a cinema room, table tennis and poll tables! The events are usually really affordable opportunities to try new things and explore Melbourne.
